"An eight-hour parade of concrete mixers will deliver about 110 truck loads of concrete Friday at the site of the new Sutter Medical Center off Mark West Springs Road.

The massive pour, which is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. followed by deliveries 5-to-10 minutes apart, will complete 90 percent of the foundation of the hospital's west wing. Two previous concrete pours were done in the summer."

Sutter Opens New Roseville Imaging Center

Sutter Roseville Diagnostic Imaging & Breast Health Center is a 15,000 square foot imaging center which sits on the campus of Sutter Roseville Medical Center and will be managed by Sutter Medical Foundation. The project consists of an MRI, CT, two (2) X-ray, two (2) Nuclear Medicine, five (5) ultra sounds, three (3) mammo, dexascan, and stereotactic rooms.

The project originally started in 2008, but was put on hold in 2009. In January 2010, we were asked to prepare for startup and on February 3, 2010, construction was restarted. The original schedule was 10 months, but with fast preplanning and meetings with our subcontractors, we decreased the schedule to just over 7 months. The project was complete on August 30, 2010.

This project also added a new dimension of work for the team; ceiling panels by Sky Factory. These are illuminated nature image panels which sit in the ceiling and give the impression of being outdoors. The biggest challenge was fitting the panels to the radius soffits. Special templates were drawn and shipped back to the factory for their use in fabricating special “elevators” (image housing for T-bar grid) for the image panels to sit in. The elevators were then shipped here to the site for installation by the field crew. This was a back and forth between the Unger field crew and the Sky Factory engineer for two weeks in order to get these “elevators” to sit in the T-bar grid. The final result though is a very impressive ceiling!

The final outcome of the project is an amazing imaging center; that will make a patient feel very comfortable coming in for their medical needs!
